Technology Sunday
As I wrap up my blog for this week, today I made a couple small changes to my Reading Buddies video. I changed some text and I gave it a new title, as I didn't realize youtube just used the file name as a default. This was a new learning experience for me and I think I will use youtube again in the future to upload things. (I have used it as a viewer several times.)

Technology Friday
This morning I finished my video project. It's a reading program promotion video for a "Reading Buddies" program at a library. Although my Windows 2010 has given me some problems in the past (I am not so familliar with it) for this application it is great because you can convert your video directly to youtube. That was the easy part! :- ) I think I would use this application again, because it is so easy to upload to youtube, Facebook, etc.

The fun of Dewey Decimal
In my cataloging class I am learning about the Dewey Decimal system. There is really a lot of underlying information besides your basic 000, 100, 200, 300...etc. I am going to start my first Dewey assignment today, I am hoping it will go well.

Today I met with Elaine and she helped answer a few questions about my video project. I successfully added music to my video project, and found out how to trim and split video. This project has gone more smoothly that I expected so I am very happy!
I stayed in the library after class today and worked on my blog. I was able to reduce the visual size (not the file, just the image) of my Flamingo PPT to video by going back to youtube and resizing. Pretty simple once I had some help doing it!
Thank you to all who answered the question about putting Shelfari up on the blog. Another classmate had asked it, but I was wanting to ask the same question. I now know what a widget is and my Shelfari bookshelf is up on the blog. Check out what I have read!

Technology Monday
This morning I've been working on my story board for the video project. I've recorded a video clip for the project, found some photos, and looked for some music to accompany it. I tried out Soundszabound for the first time, and am wondering what other free music services for educators there are? I've also used the Iowa AEA Online site for music clips in the past. I do enjoy adding sound to my projects, that is, if everything works correctly!
In other news, I was able to transfer my last PowerPoint into a video using the software provided in Windows 2010. It works pretty well, but the audio didn't stay exactly where it was supposed to, but it is the best translation from PPT. to video I have found. I will get it uploaded for all to see.

You Tube, PowerPoint, and Picassa
This past week I had my classes on campus and I learned about converting my power point to video and how to post on You Tube. The slides converted fine, but the sound and narration did not, so I am trying to problem solve that. Later today, I will try a new application on PowerPoint 2010 that is supposed to enable you to turn your PowerPoint into video. It takes a long time, so I need to wait until I am finished with some of my school work to do this.
I also learned about Picassa by Google. You can access it through gmail. This software lets you create a slide show album. You can see this on my blog now, I uploaded the picutes from my flamingo power point to this and created a slide show. Very easy, once I learned how to do it.
I worked on my Windows Movie Maker a little in class, and found that the 2010 version is very different than previous versions. However, I was able to find out how to split some video and then add a still picture. More on that as I create more!

Power Point
I've been working on my power point digital storytellling project for class. I think I finally got it figured out. It was really tricky for me to do the audio part. Either I could get the recorded sound to work, or the background music, but not both. Finally I just messed around with the settings till I got it figured out! To get things to play correctly, I had to "move earlier" on the timing for the sound effect. I spent many hours on it but now it's nearly finished. I still need to write my reflection for class, but other than that it is done.
After the blogging project, comes the video editing project. I'm figuring out some things about my cam corder and seeing if it creates editable products. Usually I just use it for taking videos of my family so I am not experienced in it's editing capabilities. I downloaded windows movie maker, also new to me. My technology experience continues!

Post 2 of Many
Here is my second post on my blog. I'm a new blogger. I think it's a great way to connect with other people.
Here's what I have been doing:
I'm taking 3 classes at UNI this summer, so that is what I do on Wednesdays and Thursdays! I've met a lot of great people and learned new things. I'll continue to discuss my projects in future blogs.
